Aloe vera was first brought to London by traders in 1695. It was soon discoverd to have mass healing and curative properties. Aloe vera then began to be in high demand by the people. By 1843, huge shipments of aloe vera began to be imported. It became a commonly prescribed and over the counter medication throughout the 18th and 19th century. Over time, aloe vera began to pick up some exoctic names that people gave it for its miraculous properties. Some of these names are: burn plant, medicine plant, wand of heaven, and plant of life.
Today, people use aloe vera for many reasons. Aloe vera skin care is the most common usage. Products such as aloe vera lotion and aloe vera gel are widely used to heal skin ailments. Aloe vera juice is also consumed by many people as a health supplement. The benefits of consuming aloe vera juice have not been scientifically proven, but people swear by doing so they feel better and that certain illnesses are cured.
Aloe vera has truly been around for a long time. The ancient civilizations learned of its wonderful uses so that we can now enjoy the uses of aloe vera today. Benefits of aloe vera are still being discovered. From the looks of it, aloe vera will be around for more years to come.
